The Nipissing District Developmental Screen® (NDDS®) is an innovative developmental screening tool available to healthcare or childcare professionals working with infants and children up to six years of age. The screening tool is meant to proactively identify problem areas in a child's development. Early identification is the first step in early intervention.

The NDDS® was compiled by a multi-disciplinary team. This easy to use tool examines thirteen key developmental stages: 1 & 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 9 months, 12 months, 15 months, 18 months, 2 years, 30 months, 3 years, 4 years, 5 years and 6 years.

The Screen explores a child's skills in the following areas: vision, hearing, speech, language, communication, gross motor, fine motor, cognitive, social/emotional and self-help. Age appropriate activities accompany the Screens, and are designed to promote overall development.

The NDDS® is available in English, French, Spanish, Chinese and Vietnamese. A pictorial screen is in development, as well as an electronic version.
